  • ‘Dreams of the Apocalypse’: Comparing Doomerism to previous apocalyptic movements that arose at times of technological change, eg millenarianism. Probably won’t be favourable to the doomers... (I was planning to write this myself.)

  • ‘What if we’re wrong’? I want stories from 20 years in the future where for whatever reason, AI progress has utterly plateaued, exploring why. Stuff in this vein: https://substack.com/@naomik/p-165051335

  • ‘What if we’re right?’ Same idea but the inverse. What if AI does transform the world? What does a good/normal version of that look like for an ordinary person? I think we could then have these stories juxtaposed with each other.

  • ‘A plea for aesthetics’: Basically a defence of the importance of aesthetics over rationality in some cases - a little like ‘The Human Prejudice’ by Williams. This is also why we shouldn’t hand over control to the benign superintelligence... This can be juxtaposed with why humanity should lose.

  • Investigate futurist literature from the past, going back to Wells? Or maybe even going back further. I think looking at the Italian futurist movement might be interesting here.

  • How do the AIs convince us they are sentient?

  • ‘The Pathologies of Technological Progress’. Investigating how authoritarian powers turn to technology as a vision to maintain power. Inspired by Kotkin’s remarks on the Dwarkesh Podcast

  • the Great Flattening: how AI slop could homogenise human creativity into a median aesthetic (some AI skeptic would probably have an interesting take on this)
